Portable DVD Player | February 28th, 2008
The Audiovox D1420 Portable DVD Player is a theater you can take anywhere. Its 4.2 screen displays movies in 16:9 aspect ratio. The D1420 includes a Deluxe Carrying Case with Built-In DVD/CD Holder. The rechargeable Nickel battery provides up to 2 hours of viewing time for DVDs and up to 5 hours of listening time for CDs.
The built-in rechargeable battery is good for about 2
hours of playing time, which is a major weakness for this
otherwise nice player. The battery charges in a few hours,
though. The battery is also not removable, and Audiovox
still doesn’t sell replacement batteries.
The carrying case features a shoulder strap and space for
the player (but not the AC adapter brick or car DC adapter
or AV cable), and over 10 CDs/DVDs, each in its own
protective plastic sleeve.
Great design-has desk stand built in. Screen quality very good for the size. Built in speakers are above average. For better sound use headphones or get a small FM transmitter and send the audio to your table radio/stereo system. Battery life could be better at only 2.5 hours. DC/AC adapter included. All in all it’s the most versatile design that can be seen in a portable player.
Features:
- 16:9 Aspect Ratio
- Deluxe Carrying Case with Built-In DVD/CD Holder
- Built-In Stereo Speakers
- Plays DVD/CD/MP3/CDR/CDRW/Picture CD
- Complete Cabling with Car Adapter

Be captivated by the refreshing blue OLED screen of the ZEN Stone Plus as you interact with and personalize your player. The perfect companion to avid sportsmen, the player captures personal bests with its stopwatch function, while letting you run to the invigorating beat of the music.
Choose from any of the six glossy shades, all of which complements the player’s shiny sleek finish nicely. And with its 2GB and 4GB capacity, this lightweight player allows you to indulge in up to 2,000 songs1 as you head for your daily workout or run. Simply switch to radio anytime you fancy a change.
You can even pamper and protect your player with the attractive ZEN Stone Plus Keychain Case or the colorful ZEN Stone Plus Skin with Clip. All these and more are yours to choose from the ZEN Stone Plus accessories range.
The tiny display utilizes OLED technology. It is monochrome, which makes it contrasting enough so that messages are easily readable despite the small font. Display contrast is adjustable. Although the player and the screen are miniaturized, the menu is not deprived in settings. One can choose the current time, date and day of the week to be simultaneously displayed as a backdrop. The customizable button that we have mentioned above can be set to showing the backdrop, turning on the voice recorder or the stopwatch according to user’s liking. Display backlight turns off after a specifiable time. After that one may run into an unpleasant situation - every time a button is pressed it will have to be pressed again, because the first time it only turns the light back on. There are only to choices here - get used to it or don’t turn the light off.

Rock in Color
Small but impressively built, the new ZEN Stone is the answer to ready music on the move. Carry it on you as you dance to the beat of your workout music for this tiny dynamo pulsates with listening power.
Available in six attractive colors, the MP3 Player is set in a glossy finish, designed to suit the aesthetic needs of any user. Featuring user-friendly plug-and-play capabilities, transfer files smoothly from the computer to your ZEN Stone and take pleasure in a selection of up to 500 songs as you bask in 10 hours of continuous audio playback. You can even download the free integrated software Creative Media Lite to enhance your ZEN Stone’s performance.
Creative’s Zen Stone comes in a variety of colors, including black, blue, green, pink, red and white, making it one of the most colorful product lines in the market. It’s a fairly simple product, though. With a glossy and display-free exterior, the Stone screams of its economic price tag. However, all may not be lost, especially since the Shuffle doesn’t have a display either. The device has round edges and integrates a 3.5mm headphones jack and a switch for various play modes (Shuffle and Repeat) and Skip Folder setting. On the front, the unit has a click wheel that is similar to the one on Apple’s Shuffle. Needless to say, Creative product designers have a fancy for Apple products. On the click wheel, you’ll find the standard play/pause (also double as power button), skip forward/backward and volume controls.

This portable DVD player keeps you watching with a 7″ diagonal widescreen monitor and user-friendly front-panel controls. Simulated surround sound via built-in speakers brings your favorite movies to life when you’re on the go, and support for Dolby Digital and DTS audio wows the crowds when the player is connected to your home theater system. Adjust color and brightness to suit your venue. The mobile movie machine plays DVD, CD, MP3. Best of all, its three-hour battery keeps up with the longest of epic adventures
The player features integrated stereo speakers, and it has a pair of headphone jacks so two people can watch movies or listen to music without disturbing others sitting around them. This is especially useful while using the player in a car or on an airplane. Overall, the audio performance is solid. On certain discs it is possible to hear some noise from the player itself, although this disappears when using the headphones.
Battery performance is very good, with the included NiMH battery lasting up to 3 hours on a single charge, depending on the volume and brightness level selected. That should be enough power to enjoy all but the longest movies. The D1708 also comes complete with an AC adapter for operating the player at home or in a hotel room, as well as a vehicle DC adapter for powering the player from a car cigarette lighter. The unit has a standard selection of playback features and comes with a full-featured credit card-size remote control.
Features:
- 16:9 Aspect Ratio
- Plays DVD, CD, MP3, CDR, CDR/W and Picture CD
- Full Featured “Credit Card” Size Wireless Remote
- Complete Cabling with Car Adapter
- Note: Confirm style of battery prior to ordering. They are not interchangeable.
- If your battery is rounded and fits on the back of the DVD player, please see part number 1364074.
- If your battery is flat and fits under the DVD player, please see part # 02MN0103D.

Part Camcorder, Part Camera, Part of Your Life! The Optura 200MC from Canon is brilliantly designed and exceptionally equipped with features that cater to even the most discerning videomaker or digital photographer. Canon has taken the feature set of the highly successful Optura 100MC and added even more capabilities to make the Optura 200MC. The Optura 200MC successfully manages the task of being both a camcorder and a still camera. The new features include: video streaming capabilities with Windows XP, Exif 2.2 print standard compatibility, Super Night mode with light, USB terminal, extended range of digital special effects and fades, improved memory card access times, the ability to record video to the memory card, and much more.
A 1.3-megapixel CCD lies at the heart of the Optura 200MC, but you’ll get close to the sensor’s full resolution only when shooting still photos at a 1.2-megapixel effective resolution. When recording video, the camcorder uses about 690,000 pixels, which is fairly standard for similarly priced cams.

Sight and sound have been elevated to the pinnacle of perfection. The Optura 300 offers unbeatable style and performance at a size that is almost too good to be true. It delivers a complete feature set that will win the hearts of video and photo lovers alike.
The video, audio and images we captured with the Optura 300 were all very bright, crisp and clear. In low light conditions, you have the option to switch the camera into Night mode or even Super Night mode, but like most night-shooting systems, these are slow-shutter effects. Canon also includes an LED video light, which, although weak, might save your shot in an emergency. We wouldn’t rely on it for anything important, however. For digital stills, the built-in auto-flash system compensates well for lack of light in the shooting environment. In all shooting conditions we attempted, the camera’s performanceperformance of the camera was exceptional, with excellent color reproduction and sharp lines.

A first-class ticket to image excellence awaits you with Canon’s Optura Xi camcorder. Beneath its silky exterior lies a true visionary at work, producing video and photos that are nothing short of breathtaking. Refined, smart, and dynamic, the Optura Xi thrills the senses, stimulates the mind, and fills you with boundless creativity. Color and clarity exceed your wildest expectations. Unrivaled performance, expert design, and meticulous attention to even the smallest detail puts the Optura Xi in a class by itself Offering a comprehensive set of both video and photographic features, the Optura Xi provides you with all the tools you need to create an imaging masterpiece. With a full complement of accessories, you can extend the performance and versatility of your Optura Xi even further. See more. See farther. Shoot longer. Hear sharper. As you grow with your camcorder, Canon has the accessories you need.
The standard-size Xi offers a comfortable grip, and the camcorder’s 1.8-pound weight makes for a solid feel that promotes steady shooting. The intelligently placed controls are easily accessible and intuitive. Ports are just as handily positioned, and their covers match up exactly. The camera’s fittings and moving parts bespeak precision manufacture and well-executed construction–qualities we’ve come to expect from the Optura line. The Xi will be a fine traveling companion if you don’t mind carrying a small camera bag.
The top center of the Canon Optura XI, at polar opposite on the lens, is the viewfinder which when disengaged by half an inch, unlocked and extended, has a range of motion from zero to 45 degrees. The eye piece is housed in soft rubber. To the right of battery, is a light grey plastic VCR/Camera dial and a stainless steel record button-strategically placed in its center. The configuration looks cool against the dark grey camcorder case, and is functional. The camera’s 1.75-inch CCD delivers 2MP still images, aided by a small flash above the lens. The still-image features were strong, including selectable-focus points and automatic exposure bracketing, which shoots multiple images simultaneously at different exposure settings. But overall, the still-image results were disappointing.
