The right size. The right price. The Canon ZR40 is the right choice for preserving special moments with family and friends. Shooting extraordinary video is effortless. The ZR40 provides you with all the features you need to make you shoot like a pro.
All the benefits of digital video, Digital Photo Mode, a 2.5″ Flexible Color View Screen, 18X Optical Zoom/360X Digital Zoom, Color Night Mode, Image Stabilization, High Quality Microphone, Built-in Analog to Digital Converter, and more!
The ZR60 is improved over the previous model, the ZR40 in a few ways, the biggest being that Canon increased the CCD resolution to 680K pixels. The camcorder includes a 2.5 in. Flexible Color View Screen, 18X Optical Zoom/360X Digital Zoom, Color Night Mode, Image Stabilization, a microphone, both microphone in and headphone out ports, and a built-in Analog to Digital Converter, and more. The ZR60 carries an MSRP of $499, dropped by $100 from the ZR40.
All the ZR models have a rounder feel to them, which I like a lot. Not much else has been changed other than the inclusion of DV Messenger software. The software is pretty cool. The new ZRs, including the ZR60 are able to function now as web cams through the Firewire port. You can use the web cam feature of MSN messenger and the DV Messenger plug-in to control the camcorder of the person on the other end. You can make it zoom and record, you can play, fast-forward and rewind tapes and also view stills off their SD card.

Life is full of special occasions that we wish could be savored forever — the ultimate vacation, the excitement of a high school graduation ceremony, your family’s first trip abroad, the antics of your favorite pet. Each Elura camcorder comes with a host of features guaranteed to enhance your home movies and digital photos. Take stunning shots and then print and transfer images with ease thanks to these ultra-portable performers. The 70 further enhances the Elura-line with added power and functionality.
The Canon Elura 70 looks very similar to to the rest of the company’s MiniDV line. Weighing just 1.1 pounds, it’s very easy to carry around all day–if you wear baggy hip-hop shorts, you can even fit it in your pocket. The controls are logically organized, and the tape loads into the compartment from the top, so you can switch tapes while the Elura is mounted on a tripod. Provided you don’t use a tripod with a large platform, you might be able to access the SD card slot as well.
Equipped with a 1/4.5 inch CCD and a Canon 18x optical zoom lens, the Canon Elura 70 is poised to perform well under excellent lighting conditions. At 3000 lux, the Canon Elura 70 performed very well, even if the colors were slightly washed out. The problem with most camcorders is that they are not designed to perform well at each step of a very dynamic light range of 15 lux to 3000 lux.

Digital Sophistication and Absolute Elegance Only From Canon
Only Canon can deliver the best in digital video technology. The Vistura fuses superior image quality with a sleek, elegant and compact design. Created to fit in the palm of your hand, the Vistura lets you capture and combine high-resolution video and still photos onto Mini DV videocassettes. Its large, rotating view screen is perfect for capturing almost any conceivable angle or for immediate playback viewing. The Vistura, from its outstanding zoom lens to its auto editing capability, is all you need to produce amazing digital video from start to finish.
The camcorder uses the MiniDV tape format which provides high quality digital video. The Vistura follows a line of great canon digtal camcorders, it can recorde in both 16bit and 12 bit digital audio and has 1/3 inch CCD with 390,000 pixels. The Vistura offers both SP (60 minutes) and LP (90 minutes) recording, a feature which is not usually included in most digtal video cameras and can be very helpful. The vistura has a 16x zoom, which is not as big as most but is probably big enough for most users. The Vistura has a 2.8 inch LCD screen which can be very helpful in getting those neat creative shots. The camcorder has Fire Wire port which is great for editing your digital videos. A feature that can be considered both good or bad dependant on the user is the cameras small size; it weights only 9 and 3/8 oz. and is about 2 7/8 x 3 7/8 x 5 3/4 inches in size. This is really great for some one who wants to take their camcorder every where and travels alot, though small camcorders are hard to control and keep steady. This can make your videos shaky and hard to watch.

Being a hybrid product means that one can successfully carry the workload of two. The Optura 100MC takes the concept of a hybrid to a whole new level. Stunning video and razor sharp still images are flawlessly combined to produce a superior imaging tool.
The perfect fusion of camcorder and still camera, the Optura 100MC successfully manages the task of both. Versatility and style is the backbone of the Optura 100MC. An extensive feature set and attention to detail make every shooting experience a sheer delight. To complement the high performance of the Optura 100MC, Canon offers a variety of different accessories. Whether you desire a fresh perspective, more light, or simply want to extend your shooting time, Canon has the right solution.
The Canon Optura 100MC is a digital video camcorder, using the standard MiniDV cassette; it produces the highest quality video possible from non-broadcast equipment. The MiniDV format standard delivers more than 500 lines of horizontal resolution. This is about a 25% improvement in picture quality over the best analog formats. On top of that, because it records both video and audio as digital data, this information can be transferred — without any loss of picture or audio quality — to computer for editing, then transferred back to DV tape, without a reduction in either picture or audio quality. All of this is through the use of the IEEE 1394 protocol commonly known as FireWire

It delivers a complete feature set that will win the hearts of video and photo lovers alike.
The video, audio and images we captured with the Optura 300 were all very bright, crisp and clear. In low light conditions, you have the option to switch the camera into Night mode or even Super Night mode, but like most night-shooting systems, these are slow-shutter effects. Canon also includes an LED video light, which, although weak, might save your shot in an emergency. We wouldn’t rely on it for anything important, however. For digital stills, the built-in auto-flash system compensates well for lack of light in the shooting environment. In all shooting conditions we attempted, the camera’s performanceperformance of the camera was exceptional, with excellent color reproduction and sharp lines.

With a full complement of accessories, you can extend the performance and versatility of your Optura Xi even further. See more. See farther. Shoot longer. Hear sharper. As you grow with your camcorder, Canon has the accessories you need.
The standard-size Xi offers a comfortable grip, and the camcorder’s 1.8-pound weight makes for a solid feel that promotes steady shooting. The intelligently placed controls are easily accessible and intuitive. Ports are just as handily positioned, and their covers match up exactly. The camera’s fittings and moving parts bespeak precision manufacture and well-executed construction–qualities we’ve come to expect from the Optura line. The Xi will be a fine traveling companion if you don’t mind carrying a small camera bag.
The top center of the Canon Optura XI, at polar opposite on the lens, is the viewfinder which when disengaged by half an inch, unlocked and extended, has a range of motion from zero to 45 degrees. The eye piece is housed in soft rubber. To the right of battery, is a light grey plastic VCR/Camera dial and a stainless steel record button-strategically placed in its center. The configuration looks cool against the dark grey camcorder case, and is functional. The camera’s 1.75-inch CCD delivers 2MP still images, aided by a small flash above the lens. The still-image features were strong, including selectable-focus points and automatic exposure bracketing, which shoots multiple images simultaneously at different exposure settings. But overall, the still-image results were disappointing.

A digital camcorder that fits into a purse, a glove compartment, or a coat pocket? That’s the Canon Elura2 MC (Memory Card) - designed to snuggle in your hand and to commune with your computer. It will go where you go, see how you see, and let you capture your experiences, get creative, and share them like you never have before. Weighing about the same as a can of soda, the Elura 2MC uses Canon’s miniaturization technology to give you all the functions and usability you want in a friendly, hand-sized package.Canon’s image stabilization system corrects camera shake, so the movies you make come out clear. Professionals and business users appreciate the ease of shooting long telephoto views without a tripod. Everyone appreciates that the minor bumps and wiggles because of car vibrations-or having one cup of coffee too many-won’t become part of your treasured memories! This camera provides an incredibly high definition, outstanding contrast - a pure reflection of the high-resolution capability of DV. The zoom technology employed in this camera is the same as Canon uses in their Broadcast TV lenses - the lenses that have come to be used on 60% of the broadcast cameras in the world. When you experience the Elura2’s zoom technology, you’ll see why. With a crisp, 2.5″ color LCD viewfinder, it’s easy to tell if what you’re shooting is coming out the way you want it to-and it’s easy to view and share with others. Twist & flip the viewfinder however you want, so you can shoot from any angle. The ELURA2 MC offers two digital audio modes. The 16 bit mode produces the higher (better than CD quality) two-channel sound quality while the 12 bit mode records on two of four channels - leaving two other channels free to dub extra sound at a later date.
With the Elura 2 you can lock both exposure and focus with the pair of buttons supplied on the back of the camera body. As an example, if you have focused on your desired subject but you are afraid your camera might wander from that point of focus then you can press the focus lock button and hold that focal point. This also transfers manual control of the focus to the wheel for fine-tuning. The same functions are also true for the exposure control.
Features:
- Digital Video Format and IEEE 1394
- Progressive Scan CCD
- RGB Primary Color Filter
- High-Quality, Low-Light Shooting

The Elura 40MC is a compact and versatile camcorder offering a unique combination of features to produce both high-quality video and stills from the same camera. It’s a camcorder that offers point-and-shoot simplicity without limiting your ability to take command and stretch your creative wings when you want. Note its extensive offering of digital video special effects and its optional ability to make color prints without connection to a computer.
The 40MC has no infrared illuminator, but the automatic exposure modes do an excellent job of quickly adjusting the aperture and shutter speed as the lighting adjusts; the camcorder will quickly adapt when you move from daylight to indoor lighting, for instance. The camcorder has eight modes such as Sport (which uses the fastest shutter speed to capture action) and low light (which uses a slow shutter speed to make the most of existing light).
The Elura 40MC offers the superior quality of digital video, the ability to take digital still pictures and store them on a MultiMediaCard, as well as the optional capability of making prints without connection to a computer. The Elura 40MC also gives you a host of new digital effects, automatic and manual controls, and offers quick and easy connection to your computer.
Microphones positioned this way pick up more noise from outside of the camera’s field of view than do camcorder microphones located on the case front. In particular, if the person holding the camcorder speaks or coughs, it can drown out other sounds, such as the subject of the video. Although the 40MC does have an input for an external microphone, there is no way to mount it on the camcorder without buying the SA-1 Adapter Bracket, which costs $40.
